Pool matches concluded yesterday with all teams proceeding to today's knock-out round of 16 games seeded according to their final group position.

There were predictable big wins for the USA, Russia and Australia but China produced an upset, doing a fine defensive job at the business end of a tight match with Spain and holding on for a 3-pt victory. Serbia survived the ejection of their coach Zoran Tir, to take a tight game against Brazil and Chinese Taipei edged out Argentina, in spite of a huge performance from rising star Victoria Llorente (25 pts, 22 rebounds) for the South American side.
