With the announcement of the fourteen teams who will contest next season's Liga Femenina is confirmation that Madrid's top side will not appear in the 2015/16 edition, choosing to drop down to Division 2, having already decided that they would not enter a team into the EuroLeague competition as a consequence of their financial struggles. Another Madrid team, Distrito Olímpico, second in Division 2 last season and thus entitled to a spot in Division 1, have also chosen to remain in the second tier. The fourteen teams announced for the elite competition are as follows : CB Conquero Huelva Wagen (Huelva), Mann Filter (Zaragoza), Spar Gran Canaria (Las Palmas GC), Embutidos Pajariel Bembubre (PDM Bembibre), Perfumerías Avenida (Salamanca), Zamarat (Zamora), Spar Citylift Girona (Girona), Cadí La Seu (La Seu D’Urgell), Star Center-Uni Ferrol (Ferrol), CREF ¡Hola! (Madrid), IDK Gipuzkoa (San Sebastián), Gernika Bizkaia (Gernika-Lumo), Campus Promete (Logroňo), Iraurgi (Azkoitia). The full calendar for the season is scheduled to be announced on Monday the 27th of July.
